1 CHRONICLES 13 David Attempts to Move the Ark of God David said to all the congregation of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if it is of the LORD our God, let us send word to our brethren everywhere… and let us bring back the Ark of our God to us, for we did not seek it in the days of Saul.” All the people agreed, for they believed it was the right thing to do. So David gathered all Israel together to bring the Ark of God back from Kiriath-jearim. David and all Israel went to Baalah (Kiriath-jearim), to bring up the Ark of God the LORD, who dwells between the cherubim. A Good Desire, But the Wrong Way They carried the Ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab. Uzzah and Ahio guided the cart. David and all Israel celebrated before God with all their might—singing and playing instruments. But when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, the oxen stumbled, and Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the Ark. Then the anger of the LORD was aroused...
